About Rick Barnes
Rick Barnes is the head coach of the mens basketball team at the University of Texas. Rick got his start in coaching after attending and playing basketball at Lenoir-Rhyne College when he became an assistant at North State Academy in 1977. He continued to serve in an assistant position until 1987 when he got his first head coaching job at George Mason. Since then he has coached at Providence, Clemson, and now at Texas where he has served in the position since 1998. In his career Barnes has won the CAA Coach of the Year Award, and the Big 12 Coach of the Year Award 4 times. Rick has led his teams to more than 400 career wins and has transformed Texas into one of the powerhouse teams in the nation. Including winning three Big 12 Regular Season Championships and in 1994 he led the team to the Big East Tournament Championship.
