About Rocky Bleier
Rocky Bleier is a former National Football League running back, playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bleier won four Super Bowls in his career with the Steelers. Rocky was drafted in the 1968 NFL Draft, as the 417th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Rocky only spent one season with the Steelers before being drafted into the U.S. Army in December of 1968 where he served in the Vietnam War in 1969. Bleier was wounded on August 20th in his left thigh after being shot with a rifle bullet after being ambushed with his platoon in a rice paddy. Rocky was also injured in his right leg when a grenade sent shrapnel into his lower right leg. After serving in Vietnam, Rocky was awarded with the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Bleier returned to football and the Steelers one year after being wounded in the war where he spent two years working to earn a spot on the active roster, and once he did he went on to earn his four Super Bowl Championships.
