About Rod Laver
Rod Laver is quite simply one of the greatest men's single tennis players of all-time. Laver had a tremendous run as the number one player in the world from 1964-1970. He holds a record 200 singles titles. Each of the years he sat at the top spot on the tennis rankings, he won at least ten tournaments. Laver won 11 Grand Slam singles and captured all the events in a calendar year on two occasions. He also helped Australia win five Davis Cup crowns. Laver captured six Grand Slam doubles titles as well. He is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. As one of the sports icons in his country, the venue where the Australian Open is contested each year is now known as Rod Laver Arena.
