About Roger Maltbie
Upon graduation of San Jose State University, Roger Maltbie began his professional golfing career and joined the PGA Tour full time in 1975. In his first season on the Tour, Maltbie won two tournaments back-to-back, first the Ed McMahon-Jaycees Quad Cities Open followed by the Pleasant Valley Classic. Maltbie went on to have 5 Tour wins in his career and had just one Top 5 finish in a major, a T-4 finish in the 87 Masters that he calls the biggest disappointment of his career. In 2001 at the age of 50, Maltbie began playing on the Senior PGA Tour. Since 1991 Maltbie has been an on-course reporter and analyst for NBC Sports and is best known for his ability to stand very close to the greens while reporting with an audible whisper.
