About Rolando Blackman
Rolando Blackman went from Brooklyn, New York to Kansas State University to play basketball for Coach Jack Hartmans Wildcats team. He was a four-year starter at Kansas State, scoring 1,844 career points for the team and shooting a career .517 field goal percentage. Blackman was a three-time All-Big Eight selection and won the Big Eight Defensive Player of the Year three times as well. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1981 NBA Draft where he began his 13 year NBA career. Blackman played the first 11 seasons with the Mavericks, amassing 16,643 points which was a franchise record for 18 years. He was a 4x All-Star and in 865 games with the Mavericks he never fouled out of a game. After two final seasons with the New York Knicks, Blackman retired from the NBA with 17,623 career points and in 2000 his #22 jersey was retired by the Mavericks. Post-retirement, Blackman has held several assistant positions with his former team and has served as an assistant for both the German and Turkish National Teams.
