Sam Perlozzo

Sam Perlozzo is most famously known for his history with Major League Baseball, both as a former player and manager. Perlozzo is commonly remembered as a second baseman for the Minnesota Twins and the San Diego Padres in the late 1970’s as well as the Baltimore Orioles manager in the early 2000’s. He was born in Maryland in 1951 and grew up loving the sport of baseball. He attended George Washington University to pursue a collegiate baseball career and was drafted by the twins immediately after graduating in 1977. Although he only played with the Twins for that single season, he went on to play for the San Diego Padres for a season and conclude his playing career with the Yakult Swallows of the Nippon Professional Baseball league in Japan. After taking more than two decades off from professional baseball, Perlozzo went back to serve as the Baltimore Orioles manager. Under his first year of management, the team finished with a 70-92 record. He continued to serve in the Major Leagues as a third base coach for the Seattle Mariners and most recently, the Philadelphia Phillies. Perlozzo’s experience and history with the sport has led him to serve as a great role model for many.
