About Scout Bassett
Scout Bassett has an amazing story to tell. Bassett spent the first seven years of her life in an orphanage after she was abandoned following a chemical fire that claimed her left leg. Even at a very young age, she started walking using homemade prosthetics. In 1995, she was adopted by an American couple in Michigan. Bassett quickly pursued athletics and originally found success in triathlon, winning four Paratriathlon World Championship medals. She then transitioned to track and field and was a bronze medalist in the 100 m and women's long jump at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships. Bassett now shares her inspiring journey with others as a motivational speaker. She was also featured in the 2019 ESPN Body issue.
