About Sidney Rice
Sidney Rice is a retired professional wide receiver who played for the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks of the NFL. Coming out of high school, colleges heavily recruited Rice, but he chose to attend the University of South Carolina where he played for the Gamecocks from 2004-06. Rice was redshirted for his freshman year. In 2005, as a redshirt freshman, Rice recorded 13 touchdowns, which became a single season receiving record at the University of South Carolina. The Minnesota Vikings selected Rice as the 44th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Rice caught his first touchdown pass against the Green Bay Packers on September 30, 2007. Rice became a starter for the Vikings in 2008. Rice’s most successful season came in 2009 when he was selected to his first Pro Bowl. In 2010, Rice suffered a hip injury that he was supposed to have surgery on, but he went against it. Rice signed with the Seahawks in 2011. During his time with the Seahawks, Rice and the Seahawks were the 2013 NFC Champion and they won Super Bowl XLVIII.
