Steve Sax

Steve Sax, otherwise known as “Mr. Hustle”, shined on the baseball diamond for eight memorable years with the MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, signing a contract with them at just 18 years old.  After three years of moving his way up in the minor leagues, Sax was named Pacific Coast Player of the Year and found his way to the big leagues in 1981.  In 1982, his first official season in the major leagues, Sax earned the prestigious title of National League Rookie of the Year.  Throughout his professional career as a second baseman, Sax proceeded to play for the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Oakland Athletics, as well.  Sax was on the All-Star team five times and earned the Silver Slugger Award in 1986, entailing the offensive player at his position in the American League and the National League that year.  Throughout his 14-year career, this great baseball player who will forever most commonly be known as a Dodger, stole over 400 bases and acquired more than 1,900 hits.  Sax is someone to be remembered for his love of the game of baseball.
