About Steven Pearl
Steven Pearl is an American college basketball coach who, as of September 2025, serves as the head men's basketball coach at Auburn University, succeeding his father, legendary coach Bruce Pearl, upon his retirement. At 38, he becomes the youngest head coach in the SEC, signing a five-year contract after 11 seasons on Auburn's staff. A forward on his father's Tennessee Volunteers team (2007–2011), Pearl appeared in 101 games, averaging 1.8 points and 1.6 rebounds off the bench while earning SEC Academic Honor Roll honors. Post-graduation, he worked three years in medical sales at Stryker Corporation before joining Auburn in 2014 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, advancing to director of operations (2015–2017), assistant coach (2017–2023), and associate head coach (2023–2025), where he coordinated defenses that ranked Auburn top-10 nationally multiple times. Under his influence, the Tigers won five SEC titles, reached two Final Fours (2019, 2025), and produced five NBA first-round picks.
