About Theo Fleury
Theo Fleury is a former NHL hockey player, playing for four teams over his 14 year career.Originally told he was too small to play professional hockey, Fleury would go on to have anastounding career, scoring over 1000 goals. Fleury broke into the NFL in 1989 with the CalgaryFlames, playing 36 games, scoring 36 goals. His addition to the Flames would be key in their runto winning their first Stanley Cup Championship. Fleury became the franchise leading scorer in1999, a record he would hold until 2009. Two weeks later, Fleury was traded to the ColoradoAvalanche, only playing in 15 games before leaving in free agency that off-season. Fleury signeda three year deal with the New York Rangers, having an upand down stint in Manhattan. Afterleaving New York, Fleury signed with the Blackhawks, but after battling alcoholism and landingin and out of rehab, he was eventuallysuspended, and ultimately retired. Along with his NHLcareer, Fleury also experienced success with the Canadian national team, the highlight of histime being a gold medal at the 2002 Olympics. Fleury’s career ended after a failed comebackattempt in 2009, but not after making seven All-Star teams and winning a Stanley Cup.
