Todd DeSorbo

The University of Virginia (UVA) employs Todd DeSorbo as their head coach for men's and women's swimming and diving teams. The UVA women's team won five consecutive NCAA Championships from 2021 to 2025 after DeSorbo became their head coach in 2017. Under his leadership, UVA swimmers have set numerous records, including seven American, NCAA, and U.S. Open records in 2022 alone. The Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has awarded DeSorbo Women’s Coach of the Year for four consecutive years (2021–2024) and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s (USOPC) selected him as College Coach of the Year in 2023.

DeSorbo served as associate head coach at North Carolina State University (NC State) from 2011 to 2017 where he helped develop athletes who reached national and international success levels. The 2016 Rio Olympics saw Ryan Held win gold as a member of the U.S. men's 4x100m freestyle relay team under DeSorbo's coaching.

The USA Swimming organization benefits from DeSorbo's extensive contributions beyond his collegiate coaching success. He worked as an assistant coach for the U.S. women's Olympic swim team during the 2021 Tokyo Games before becoming the head coach for the U.S. women's team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The native of Salisbury North Carolina holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He lives in Charlottesville Virginia with his wife Lauren Suggs and their two children.
