About Tomas Hertl
Tomas Hertl is a professional hockey player in the NHL and is the first player from the modern Czech Republic to play in an NHL game since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. He began his professional career at HC Slavia Praha of the Czech Extraliga where over the course of 3 seasons he played in 82 games and scored 30 goals with 25 assists. For the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Hertl was ranked as high as the 15th best prospect in the class and went on to be drafted 17th overall by the San Jose Sharks. He signed with the Sharks before the start of the 2013 season where he appeared in 37 games at the center position with 15 goals and 10 assists to his name. Hertl has also competed internationally for the Czech Republic since 2011, beginning with the junior team until being eligible for the senior team in 2013 where the team finished 7th in the World Championships.
