Tony Perez

Tony Perez’'s professional career in baseball began at a young age. When he was 17 he was signed to a pro contract by a scout for the Cincinnati Reds. He made his debut for the team after about four years developing his skills in the minor leagues. Since his debut in July of 1964 Tony hit for a career .279 batting average, with 2,732 hits, 379 home runs, and 1,652 runs batted in, all in route to becoming a 7 time All-Star, an MLB All-Star Game MVP in 1967, and a three time World Series Champion. Perez retired from the game in 1986 and just a few short years later he came to the game as a manager. He managed for a season with the Cincinnati Reds and the Florida Marlins. For all of his contributions to the game of baseball Tony has been inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame, the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Hall of Fame, and he has become a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
