About Tyrann Mathieu
Tyrann Mathieu was one of the most dynamic players in football throughout his college and pro career. Mathieu made an immediate impact for LSU as a true freshman, capping it off by winning Defensive MVP honors in the 2011 Cotton Bowl. Mathieu improved upon his success in his sophomore season, ending the season with 77 tackles with 2 defensive touchdowns as well as 26 punt returns for 420 yards and 2 more TDs. Nicknamed "The Honeybadger," Mathieu was named MVP for the SEC Championship game, was awarded the Chuck Bednarik Award as the nation's top defensive back, and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
In 2012, it was announced that he would enter the NFL Draft where he was selected in the third round by the Arizona Cardinals. Mathieu played both free safety and cornerback for the Cardinals for five seasons and was named a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro in 2015. He spent the 2018 season with the Houston Texans before signing with the Chiefs. In three years in KC, Mathieu earned two more first-team All-Pro honors and a Super Bowl ring. He signed with his hometown Saints in 2022.
