About Wayne Chrebet
Not many players in recent memory were more tenacious than Wayne Chrebet. Chrebet became an unlikely star receiver for the New York Jets for 11 seasons. He was inducted into the Jets’ Ring of Honor and ranks second in receptions in franchise history. Chrebet totaled 580 receptions for 7,365 yards and 41 touchdowns in his career. Remarkably, 379 of his 580 catches resulted in third down conversions. Chrebet achieved all of this despite being undrafted out of Hofstra and the 11th receiver listed on the Jets’ depth chart in his first training camp. He set several school records and was a member of the inaugural class inducted into the Hofstra University Athletic Hall of Fame. When Chrebet made the Jets he was the first Hofstra player to make an NFL roster since 1964. Since retirement, he has been a restaurateur and financial advisor. The NFL and Jets still enlist his help as a community ambassador at various events.
