About Wayne Morgan
Wayne Morgan is a longtime college basketball coach, best known as Iowa State’s first African American head coach from 2003-2006. Morgan took the Cyclones to the NCAA Tournament in 2005. In 2004, ISU guard Curtis Stinson was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American. That same year center Jackson Vroman led the Big 12 in rebounding and was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft. Prior to Morgan’s stint in Ames, he was the head coach at Long Beach State for six seasons. His 49ers team won the Big West Conference in 2000. Overall, his head coaching record is 146-123. Morgan got recognition as a longtime assistant under Jim Boeheim at Syracuse. Most recently, he was an assistant at Hofstra from 2009-2013. Morgan has put out two coaching DVDs that teach the 2-3 zone defense. He is currently an agent with New York Life Insurance.
