About Whitney Mercilus
Whitney Mercilus is a retired linebacker who wreaked havoc on defenses for a decade with the Houston Texans. The Texans made him a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Mercilus had some success as a rookie, recording six sacks and helping Houston win the AFC South. He became a full-time starter in year two and continued to be productive over the next several seasons. In 2015, the Texans returned to the postseason and Mercilus had a career-high 12 sacks. The next season, he was named a second-team All-Pro. Mercilus ended his career in 2021, playing his final four games with the Green Bay Packers. Prior to his run in the NFL, he was an All-American and winner of the Ted Hendricks Award at Illinois.
