About Wil Myers
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Wil Myers is one of the most reliable hitters in baseball today. Myers broke onto the scene with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2013 and won American League Rookie of the Year honors, hitting .293 with 13 home runs and 53 RBI in just 88 games. Injury problems slowed Myers in year two, but he is still regarded as a future star. In 2013, he helped Tampa Bay grab one of the two AL wild card spots. The Kansas City Royals originally drafted Myers in the third round out of Wesleyan Christian Academy in 2009. He was one of the most highly regarded prospects in baseball when the Royals shipped him to the Rays as part of a package for ace pitcher James Shields. Myers was born in Thomasville, North Carolina and has started a yearly wiffle ball tournament for charity that benefits the youth league near his hometown.
