Xavier Scruggs

Xavier Scruggs entered the world on September 23, 1987, in Whittier, California, to become a professional baseball first baseman and influential MLB analyst and inclusion advocate and entrepreneur. The St. Louis Cardinals selected him in the 2008 draft after his standout performance at UNLV where he became the Mountain West leader in home runs and total bases. He entered the MLB in 2014 after playing for the Miami Marlins and later joined the NC Dinos of Korea's KBO league for two years where he hit 61 home runs and drove in 208 runs.

After his playing career Scruggs transitioned directly to broadcasting work by becoming a regular ESPN Baseball Tonight and MLB Network Off Base and College World Series and Little League World Series commentator. Through his podcast "The Bigs" he conducts open discussions with MLB stars about their life experiences.

In 2021 Scruggs took on a leadership position away from the field when he became the first DEI Consultant in North American professional sports for the St. Louis Cardinals front office to promote cultural understanding and support diverse players.

Through his platform Xtraordinary Athletes he established a mentorship program which helps young athletes build impact-driven leadership skills based on their faith and community values that he learned from his life experiences.

Xavier Scruggs has established himself as a strong baseball media voice and DEI advocate and athletic transition role model who dedicates his efforts to helping others achieve success in both athletic and non-athletic fields.
