About Andre Ware
Once a standout college quarterback, Andre Ware now makes his name as a prominent voice on college football. Ware rose to fame as the 1989 Heisman Trophy winner out of the University of Houston. He was the first African-American to take home the award, posting 4,699 yards and 44 touchdowns in his junior year. That effort earned him induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004 as well as the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. Ware was one of the players that helped popularize the Cougars Run & Shoot offense. Following his college career, he was the 7th pick in the 1990 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Ware played sparingly in his four seasons with the Lions. He also spent time in the Canadian Football League and NFL Europe. Since 2003, he has been a college football analyst for ESPN and now works on SEC Network game broadcasts. On Sundays, Ware is the radio analyst for Houston Texans games.
