About Archie Manning
As the patriarch of one of football’s most storied and beloved families, Archie Manning is an admired American figure. Now known better as Peyton and Eli’s father, Manning had his own stellar career in the NFL. He spent ten seasons of his 13 year career with the New Orleans Saints and was a two time Pro Bowl selection. In 1978, Manning was the AFC Offensive Player of the Year. He gained a lot of respect for doing the most with the little talent that surrounded him while with the Saints. New Orleans originally took him second overall in the 1971 NFL Draft. Manning played collegiately at Ole Miss and has his jersey retired by the Rebels. He overcame the suicide of his father during college to become a successful pro quarterback and one of the country’s most well known fathers. Manning has been a corporate pitchman for many years and operates the Manning Passing Academy each summer with his sons.
