About Drew Brees
Drew Brees is widely regarded as one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time. After starring at Purdue University, where he set numerous Big Ten and school records, he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2001 (32nd overall). Despite early challenges, including a severe shoulder injury, he earned Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2004. In 2006, Brees signed with the New Orleans Saints, reinvigorating the franchise post-Hurricane Katrina. He led them to their first Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl XLIV, earning MVP honors with a near-perfect performance against the Indianapolis Colts. Over 15 seasons in New Orleans, he set NFL records for career completions (7,142), passing yards (80,358), and attempts, while throwing 571 touchdowns. He achieved five 5,000-yard seasons, 13 Pro Bowls, two Offensive Player of the Year awards, and the adoration of fans in The Crescent City. Retiring after 2020, Brees was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026 on his first ballot, cementing his legacy as a precision passer and symbol of resilience for the Saints and their city.
