About Bobby Douglass
Bobby Douglass played in the NFL for nine seasons with the Chicago Bears, San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers from 1969 to 1978. Douglass got his start in the NFL with the Chicago Bears after being selected in the second round of the 1969 NFL Draft out of the University of Kansas. While playing for the Jayhawks he was a two-time All-Big Eight performer and earned All-American honors in 1968 at the quarterback position. Upon signing with the Bears he became their starting quarterback and went on to set an NFL record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in a season with 968 yards in 1972. Douglass retired in 1978 with 6,493 career passing yards, 2,654 rushing yards and 36 career passing touchdowns. Upon retiring from football he briefly played in the Chicago White Sox minor league organization as a pitcher, showing that he was one of the best overall athletes of his era.
