Bud Black pitched 15 seasons in the big leagues after making his MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners in 1981. In 1982 he made his way to the Kansas City Royals and became a 20 game winner in route to helping his team to a World Series title in 1985. After seven seasons in Kansas City he played with the Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays and San Francisco Giants before returning to the Indians and retiring in 1995. During his career as a player he compiled 121 wins to go along with a 3.84 career ERA and 1,039 strikeouts. After retiring as a player he coached in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization from 2000 to 2006 and won a second World Series ring in 2002. In 2006 the San Diego Padres hired Black as their manager. He was named the National League Manager of the Year in 2010 with the Padres and currently serves as manager of the Colorado Rockies.
