Bud Keene

Bud Keene was introduced to snowboarding in 1984 on the slopes of Stowe, Vermont, and later moved to California to become one of the first snowboard instructors in the USA at Soda Springs and Boreal Ridge on Donner Summit.  In 1987 he moved back home and became an instructor on his home mountain and joined the Professional Ski Instructors of America.  He’d go on to become a PSIA snowboard examiner in 1989 and wrote the first-ever PSIA snowboard instruction manual.  After a decorated pro snowboarding career in which he rode for Sims and Burton Snowboards he became a full-time snowboarding instructor.  From 1989 to 2003 he built the MMSC Snowboard Program and trained some of the world’s most prominent snowboarders.  His notoriety as an instructor eventually landed him a spot on the U.S. Snowboarding Halfpipe coaching staff for the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games.  In 2006 he was named the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s International Coach of the Year after leading his team to a dominant performance in the 2006 Winter Olympics.  Since that time he’s been one of the most sought after coaches in the world and continues to coach the USA to victories all over the world.
