About Buddy Curry
Buddy Curry grew up in Greenville, North Carolina and played collegiately for his home state Tar Heels before heading to the NFL as a second round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 1980. In his first season with the Falcons he took home NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and went on to become a two-time All-Pro selection in both 1980 and 1982. In 1983 he recorded which was at the time a Falcons record 229 tackles. Although that record would be broken in 2002 his time with the team would never be forgotten. He is remembered as one of the top linebackers of his era and tallied 7 career interceptions in eight years with the Falcons. After his retirement in 1987 he became a master trainer for USA Football’s “Heads UP Football Program” which teaches youth athletes proper tackling techniques.
