About Casey FitzRandolph
Casey FitzRandolph is a speedskater. FitzRandolph began skating at three years old when he first stepped on the ice as a munchkin in an Ice Production of The Wizard of Oz. At four years old, FitzRandolph began to play hockey, but he soon realized that he did not like the amount of time he had to spend in hockey pads. FitzRandolph took to speedskating after hearing an ad for the Madison area All-City speed skating meet. He instantly fell in love with the sport and he did not stop until he reached his goal of becoming an Olympic gold medalist. In 1997 at the World Spring Championships, he won the bronze overall and a silver medal in the 1000m. FitzRandolph is a 6 time US National Sprint Champion and he established new Olympic records in the 500m-speedskating race during the 1998 and 2002 Olympic Games. He became the first person to skate the 500m in under 36 seconds in an Olympics. He won his Olympic gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics.
