About Charlie Sanders
Charlie Sanders was an All-Pro tight end for the Detroit Lions from 1968-1977. Sanders was a standout athlete in high school and received a scholarship to the University of Minnesota where he starred on the Golden Golphers football team. Sanders was drafted by the Lions in 1968 and became their starter for all 10 seasons he was with the team. Known as much for his blocking ability as his receiving abilities, Sanders compiled 336 receptions with 31 TDs. Sanders was selected to 7 Pro Bowls in his 10 year career and was named to the NFLs 1970s All-Decade Team. Following his playing career, Sanders served as color-analyst for his former team for several seasons before joining their coaching staff as an assistant wide receivers coach. In 200, Sanders was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
