About Colin Kaepernick
Colin Kaepernick, a Milwaukee born professional athlete, is best known as the former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. Kaepernick was born to a mixed family going through tough times and as a result, was put up for adoption. With his adopted family, Kaepernick grew up in Wisconsin and California and excelled in youth football programs. As a three-sport athlete and a promising baseball pitcher in high school, as well, he decided to give up several baseball scholarship offers in order to pursue football. In fact, his baseball career even went as far as to be selected in the 2009 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs, an offer that Kapernick respectfully declined in order to continue playing college football at the University of Nevada. Two years later, he was selected in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers and was an NFC Champion and a two-time USA Today All-Joe Team recipient. Colin set an NFL record for most rushing yards, 181, by a quarterback in a game (playoffs or regular season) in his first playoff game. After beating the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship 28-24, he led the 49ers to their first Super Bowl since 1994, where they then lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
