The American flag football quarterback Darrell “Housh” Doucette III distinguishes himself through his leadership skills and his versatility as well as his strategic thinking on the field. Born June 29, 1989, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Doucette started his athletic path at a young age by showing excellence in track and field and football and bowling where he won state titles in bowling. His initial talent in tackle football led him to switch to flag football after attending Xavier University of Louisiana where he played intramural leagues and later became the NAIA women’s flag football program coach at the university in 2021.

Doucette joined the U.S. Men's National Flag Football Team in 2020 to help the team win multiple international championships. Under his leadership the team won three international titles when he led them to victory at the 2021 IFAF World Championship in Jerusalem and the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama and the 2023 IFAF Americas Continental Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina and was awarded MVP of the gold medal match. In 2024 Doucette led the U.S. team to win the IFAF Men's Flag Football World Championship in Finland by throwing six touchdown passes during the final match.

The sport of flag football has Doucette as its biggest advocate because he fights to establish its legitimacy while working to expand the sport ahead of its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games. He publicly disputes the automatic selection of NFL stars for Olympic team membership because veteran flag football players demonstrate better skills and dedication. Through his statements Doucette initiated a sports debate that involved NFL players such as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
