About Darryl Strawberry
During his career Darryl Strawberry was one of the most feared hitters in Major League Baseball. While playing for the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees from 1983 to 1999 he was an eight-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger Award winner and was a part of four World Series championship teams in 1986 with the Mets, and in 1996, 1998 and 1999 with the Yankees. One of his best years came during his first year in the league in 1983 when he launched 26 homeruns and drove in 74 runs in route to winning the NL Rookie of the Year Award. He’d go on to launch 39 homeruns in consecutive years in 1987 and 1988 and hit a total of 335 homeruns over the course of his career. Although he was also known for his struggles addiction off the field, Strawberry eventually struck out his personal demons and hit a home run by overcoming those addictions. He now devotes his life to help others do the same through Strawberry Ministries, which now has several recovery centers and programs around the country to help others struggling with addiction.
