About David Freese
David Freese grew up in Wildwood, Missouri and had a standout prep baseball career at Lafayette High School where he hit .533 with 23 homeruns as a senior. After high school he signed on to play at St. Louis Community College, where he earned NJCAA All-American second team honors after hitting .396 with 10 homeruns during his freshman season. After one season of junior college baseball he matriculated to the University of South Alabama and went on to hit .414 with 73 runs scored and 73 RBI during his junior season. After the 2006 season the San Diego Padres selected him in the ninth round of the MLB Draft. Eventually he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals and made his MLB debut in 2009. In 2011 the hometown boy led the Cardinals to a World Series title and was named both the NLCS and World Series MVP after setting a postseason record with 21 RBI. After earning All-Star honors in 2012 he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2013.
