About Derrick Brooks
Derrick Brooks is one of the greatest football players in the history of the game. A native of Pensacola, Florida, it was evident during his days at Washington High School and Florida State University that he’d turn out to be one of the great ones. After earning ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 1993 and consensus first-team All-American honors in consecutive season for the Seminoles the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made him their first round selection in 1995. Over the next 12 seasons he earned 11 Pro Bowl Selections, nine All-Pro nods, the 2002 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award, and the 2000 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. In 2002 he helped the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl Championship while also being named the leagues top linebacker. After his historic career came to an end he was named to the NFL 2000’s All-Decade Team, and in 2014 he was honored with induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
