About Edwin Diaz
Edwin Diaz stars for the Los Angeles Dodgers and is one of the best closers in baseball. Diaz spent his first three seasons with the Seattle Mariners. When he debuted in 2016, he set a team record by striking out 11 straight batters. Diaz reached 50 strikeouts with 25.1 innings. In 2018, he broke the Mariners record for saves by the All-Star break and was selected to his first All-Star team. In August, he notched his 44th save, which set a new single-season record for a Puerto Rican-born closer. He ended up leading the major leagues with 57 saves, which also tied him for the second-highest total in baseball history. Diaz is also the youngest reliever to notch over 50 saves. He was named American League Reliever of the Year after the season. Diaz has also starred internationally, pitching for Puerto Rico in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
