About Emmitt Thomas
Emmitt Thomas made his professional football debut in 1966 for the AFL's Kansas City Chiefs. Thomas led his team in interceptions several times and twice led pro football in interceptions. In 1969 he recorded 9 interceptions and helped the AFL Chiefs to the final World Championship victory over the NFLs Minnesota Vikings. After the Merger in 1970, Thomas was selected to 5 Pro-Bowls and went on to win 2 more Super Bowl Championships. He retired after 13 seasons and is still the Chiefs franchise leader with 58 career interceptions. Thomas began a career as an assistant coach in 1981 and continues to coach to this day, currently serving as the defensive back coach for his former team. In 2008 he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and his #18 jersey has since been retired by the Chiefs.
