About Ernie Johnson
Ernie Johnson is currently a sportscaster for Turner Sports where he holds the lead voice T.V. voice for Major League Baseball on TBS, hosts Inside the NBA for TNT, as well as contributing to the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball tournament for both Turner and CBS Sports. Johnson’s career took off in 1977 while he was still attending the University of Georgia, where he was the news and sports director for the radio station WAGQ-FM. From 1993-96, Johnson called the Atlanta Braves baseball games with his father. In his career as the host for TNT’s coverage of the NBA, Johnson covers pregame and halftime shows along with the postgame studio show that airs after each NBA doubleheader. Occasionally, Johnson served as a playby-play announcer for NBA T.V. coverage. Off of the basketball court, Johnson is also the play-by-play announcer for PGA Tour coverage. Johnson has worked as a studio host for TBS’s coverage of college football. From 2007-09 Johnson worked as a studio host for TBS’s coverage of MLB. In 2010, Johnson was moved up to a play-byplay role for TBS’s playoff coverage, which included the 2010 ALCS.
