About Gary Knafelc
Gary Knafelc is a former professional wide receiver/ tight end who played for the Chicago Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. Prior to college, Knafelc had a fear of traveling, but he got over his fear and made it big in college. Knafelc attended the University of Colorado where he played both offense and defense. In 1953, Knafelc led the Buffs in receiving when he recorded 22 catches for 451 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Chicago Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 1954 NFL Draft. Knafelc spent one season with the Cardinals before he went to Green Bay. During his time with the Packers, Knafelc became the only player to be carried off the City Stadium or Lambeau Field turf by fans. Knafelc is best remembered for his four fourth-quarter game-winning catches in the late 1950s. In his post-playing days, Knafelc served as a public address announcer for the Packers games from 1964 to 2004.
