About Havard Rugland
Harvard Rugland is a placekicker who is best known for his time with the NFL’s Detroit Lions. Rugland rose to fame in 2012 when he posted a Youtube video titled Kickalicious, in which he performed various kicking trick-shots. After the video went viral, Rugland traveled from his native Norway to the United States where he trained to become an NFL kicker with retired player Michael Husted. In December 2012, Rugland received his first NFL tryout with the New York Jets, but ultimately did not make the cut. Just two months later, Rugland earned another tryout, this time with the Cleveland Browns, but again failing to make the team. Rugland finally received an offer from the Detroit Lions in April 2013, and he made his NFL preseason debut in August, going 2-2 with a 50-yard field goal. Rugland was cut from the Lions prior to the regular season, and other than work out with the Green Bay Packers, has not seen any NFL action since.
