About Ivan Lendl
Ivan Lendl is a former professional tennis player. Lendl was born into a tennis family and he turned professional in 1978. Lendl moved to the United States in 1981 and became a U.S. citizen on July 7, 1992. Lendl came to the tennis world’s attention in 1978 when he won the boy’s singles titles at the French Open and Wimbledon as well as being ranked the No. 1 junior player. After turning professional, Lendl made an almost immediate impact. In 1980, he won 7 singles titles and the following year he won 10 titles. Lendl was a part of the Czechoslovakia team that won the World Team Cup in 1981. On December 31, 2011, Lendl became the coach for Andy Murray. It was announced in 2014, that Lendl and Murray would be ending their partnership. In May 2012, Lendl played for Prague for the first time since the 1970s. He defeated Jiri Novak at the 2010 Sparta Prague Open.
