About Jimmy Connors
Jimmy Connors is one of the most decorated major tennis champions in history, having won eight Grand Slam singles titles and two Grand Slam doubles titles during his professional tennis career from 1972 to 1996. His resume includes five U.S. Open titles in 1974, 1976, 1978, 1982 and 1983, two Wimbledon titles in 1974 and 1982, and an Australian Open championship in 1974. In 1973 he captured the Wimbledon doubles crown and added another doubles title in 1975 by winning the U.S. Open. During his 24 year professional career the southpaw was ranked as the No. 1 player in the world for over 200 weeks and held a top-ten ranking for a record 16 consecutive years. With a career singles record of 1,253-279 and 109 ATP singles titles he is considered to be one of the best tennis players in history. All together he has earned over $8.6 million in career earnings on tour. After his career came to an end he served as a color commentator for NBC, BBC and the Tennis Channel and has also served as a coach for such notable players as Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova.
