About Jacob Hester
Jacob Hester is a former American football fullback and current radio host. Hailing from Shreveport, Louisiana, he was a standout at Evangel Christian Academy, where he won three state championships and was named Louisiana’s Mr. Football in 2002. At LSU, Hester played running back from 2004 to 2007, contributing to the 2007 BCS National Championship team with 1,103 career rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. Known for his versatility, toughness, and blocking, he was a team captain and earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2007.
Selected in the third round (69th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, Hester played five NFL seasons (2008–2012) with the Chargers and Denver Broncos, primarily as a fullback and special teams player. He recorded 95 carries for 319 yards and 23 receptions for 139 yards, with three total touchdowns in 62 games.
After retiring, Hester transitioned to broadcasting as a college football analyst for ESPN, Cox Sports Television, and SEC Network. Since 2015, he has co-hosted “Off the Bench” on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge and contributed to “Sports Today” and LSU pre- and postgame shows. Hester co-authored “From Bags to Riches” (2017), detailing his journey. He resides in Louisiana with his wife, Amy, and their two children.
