James Conner Biography

James Conner is a running back for the Arizona Cardinals. The Pittsburgh Steelers originally selected Conner in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Conner spent four seasons with the Steelers, making the Pro Bowl in 2018 after rushing for 973 yards and 12 touchdowns. He signed as a free agent with the Cardinals in 2021. 

Conner is a native of Erie, Pennsylvania who attended the University of Pittsburgh. Conner had a huge role in the Panthers offense since his freshman season. He capped his debut campaign with MVP honors in the Little Caesar's Bowl after rushing for 226 yards and a touchdown. In 2014, Conner rushed for 1,765 yards and an ACC record 26 touchdowns. His rushing total ranked seventh in all of FBS. He was the ACC Player of the Year, ACC Offensive Player of the Year and an AFCA first-team All-American. Conner tore his MCL and was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma as a junior. He overcame both circumstances to rush for 1,092 yards and 16 touchdowns in his final college season.
