About James Wilder
During a nine-year run, James Wilder ran into the Tampa Bay Buccaneers record books. Wilder holds franchise records for rushing yards and receptions. In 1984, he set NFL records for carries and touches on the way to a Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection. Wilder finished with 2,229 rushing and receiving yards in 1984. The Buccaneers originally selected him in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft. Prior to retirement, Wilder spent one final season between the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions. He played collegiately at the University of Missouri and the school went to three straight bowl games with him running the ball. Wilder’s son, James Jr., also played in the NFL.
