About Jim Sundberg
Jim Sundberg was one of the Texas Rangers early stars. Sundberg made an incredible leap in 1974 from Single-A ball to the major leagues. He would remain with the Rangers for the next decade and earned praise for his defense as evidenced by six straight Gold Gloves won from 1976-81. Sundberg was also a three-time All-Star. He was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in 1984 and would experience a career highlight with the Kansas City Royals in 1985. Sundberg helped the team win the World Series and scored the winning run in the ninth inning of Game 6. During his two seasons with the Royals, the pitching staff finished second and first in the American League respectively. Sundberg latched on with the Chicago Cubs for two more seasons before finishing his career with the Rangers. In retirement, he spent ten years working for his original organization as a senior executive vice president. Sundberg is also a member of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.
