About Tom Grieve
Tom Grieve was one of the Texas Rangers first stars when the franchise relocated to Washington D.C. and he is perhaps even better known as the longtime television analyst for the club. Grieve debuted with the franchise in 1970 when they were still the Washington Senators, then played six seasons in Texas. His best year came in 1976 when he hit 20 home runs and 81 RBI. Grieve went on to play for the New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals before retiring in 1979. He immediately rejoined the Rangers in the front office and was promoted to general manager in 1984. Over the next decade, Grieve made several moves that would help Texas become American League contenders. He acquired players like Rafael Palmeiro and Ruben Sierra. Grieve left behind his executive position in 1995 and became the Rangers television analyst. His lifetime spent with the franchise was honored with induction into the team's Hall of Fame in 2010.
