About Joba Chamberlain
Joba Chamberlain was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and played his college ball with the Nebraska Corn Huskers. In 2005 he helped his team to the College World Series after posing a 10-2 record with a sparkling 2.81 ERA. After a stellar senior season in which he struck out 102 batters in 89.1 innings the New York Yankees selected him with the 41st overall pick in the 2006 MLB First Year Player Draft. One year later he made his MLB debut with the Yankees and became an instant star, giving up just 1 run in 24 innings with 34 strikeouts during his first big league season. The following year he struck out 118 batters in 100.1 innings and posted a 2.60 ERA in route to finishing 8th in the American League Rookie of the Year voting. Chamberlain was a stable force in the Yankees bullpen for seven seasons from 2007 to 2013 before joining the Detroit Tigers in 2014. He finished his career playing for the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians before retiring in 2017.
