About Hal McRae
Hal McRae is a former MLB outfielder and coach. McRae debuted as a player in 1968 as a member of the Cincinnati Reds, and was later traded to the Kansas City Royals in 1973. It was at this time that McRae developed into a consistent designated hitter, as he won one World Series with the Royals in 1985, along with three All-Star honors. In 1987, McRae retired, amassing 2,091 hits, 191 homeruns, and 1,097 RBI over his 19 year career. Following his retirement, McRae transitioned into a bench coach role with the Royals, then with the Montreal Expos, before returning as manager with the Royals in 1991. McRae would fail to lead the Royals to the playoffs in his four seasons as manager, and was let go in 1994. McRae’s next managerial job when come in 2001 when he coached the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for two seasons, finishing last in their division in both seasons. In 2006, McRae won his second Super Bowl ring as an assistant with the St. Louis Cardinals.
