About John Bonamego
John Bonamego is the head football coach at his alma mater, Central Michigan University. In each of his first two seasons, Bonamego took the Chippewas to a bowl game. During his first campaign, CMU won a share of the Mid-American Conference West Division. Prior to coming to Central Michigan, Bonamego spent 16 seasons as an assistant coach in the NFL. He worked primarily as a special teams coordinator. Bonamego does have roots in the college game. He previously served as an assistant at Maine, Lehigh and Army before entering the pro ranks with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1999. After graduating from Central Michigan, Bonamego began his coaching career as an assistant at Mount Pleasant High School in 1987.
