About June Jones
June Jones played quarterback at the University of Oregon, University of Hawaii and Portland State Unviersity from 1971 to 1976. During his final two seasons at Portland State he threw for 5,798 yards and 50 touchdowns. After earning his degree from Portland State he played in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons from 1977 to 1981 and then finished his playing career with the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL in 1982. After the 1982 season he joined the Hawaii coaching staff and then served as an assistant with the Houston Gamblers, Denver Gold, Ottawa Rough Riders, Houston Oilers, and Detroit Lions before being named the offensive coordinator of the Falcons in 1991. In 1993 he was promoted to head coach of the Falcons and served in that role until 1996. After a brief stint with the Chargers he was hired as the head coach at the University of Hawaii in 1999. In eight seasons with the Warriors he built Hawaii into a national powerhouse, winning 76 games and two Western Athletic Conference titles. In 2008 Coach Jones signed on as the head coach at SMU, where led the Mustangs to consecutive Conference USA titles in 2009 and 2010.
